STUDIO DIARY 2006
Friday 11.8
"Näin kaikki päättyy, näen sen nyt
Tämä sivu on viimeinen
Näin kaikki päättyy, tyhjään ja unohdukseen
Eikä kukaan tänne palaa"
Yes, we did it. It´s ready. It´s finished. It´s ending. And it´s fucking good....both
that this session is actually coming to it´s end, and most of all, The Album. I´m not
going to reveal anything about the music, track numbers nor any names. You´ll hear them
later. Isn´t that nice? But prepare for something which I´d call as "massive".
It´s not going to be an easy listening experience.
We still have some additional techincal stuff to do: burn some cd´s for auditioning, some
extra files for me to mess around with later at my own studio before mastering, and of
course burn the backup- DVD´s of the whole project. Our plane is taking off after 4 hours
so we´re not (luckily) running out of time.
This diary will expire after today´s babbling. Hope you had as much fun reading it as I
hated to write it. ;)

Thursday 10.8.2006
Yesterday we spent the night at the """hotel""" (enough
quotation marks to emphasize that the place is not a hotel but the worst type of
accommodation anyone could ever pay for) listening to all kinds of music; Skitsystem,
Kiuas, Johnny Cash, a Finnish schlager version of a Johnny Cash song, themes from Sergio
Leone's dollar trilogy (one brilliant set of movies should I say!), you name it. We also
listened to what we had done in the studio the previous days and it sounded really good.
150+ tracks as Henri said, and you sure can hear it. Hail to the King, baby!
It's been a work-filled day today as we've been pondering about balance, panning and some
little less significant details. Ahti is behind the desk now and Henri is taking a
deserved walking break, hah. The second half of the album will definitely sound at least
as good as the first, I assure you. Some little surprises on the way also, maybe, depends
who is judging.
Our last news broadcast will follow tomorrow.
Truly yours,
Ville

Wednesday 9.8
You know, I actually played Baldur´s Gate for six and a half hours in a row yesterday.
Addictive, and mind-numbing. The latter being actually the main reason I played it for, as
I´m right now actually not so much into the other mind-dumbing thing people sometimes do,
which is also referred as drinking alcohol....but especially doing that alone is not
exactly what I´d call as "my thing", heh. So, why
mind-numbing?
To be honest, dear reader, to not to "think anything", because I´ll goddamn
snap if I´ll have to face the reality of Kemi from my hostel window at this point, as
I´m not so keen of going out either. And to be exact, any reality is enough for now. This
album-composing and recording sessions have been clearly the hardest I´ve ever
encountered in my life, first mentally and after june, even physically, as I have
quite clearly exceeded the limits of "how much a man can take" without falling
apart.
Or maybe it´s just too much The Cure? Hehe. Nah, seriously, I just need a break from
everything before I go totally mental spiced with gastric ulcer, which actually doesn´t
seem even so far-away when I think it. I already have been diagnosed with the
"beginning" latter and then again, I´m pretty sure some nice little guy in a
white coat would have a word or two about things in my head as well. So, on the other
hand, let´s not think about it.
But what do you say if I´ll give you an update about what´s going on in the studio?
We´ve actually mixed half of the album now! The sound is very bombastic - not too hi-fi
but not too screechy either, and as Ahti kindly put it again, "you know, there´s a
dangerous possibility that this might turn out to be quite a pompous album". In my
opinion, the sound is very "natural", at least compared to the certain other
bands who use certain other producers. Well, you know the drill. However, don´t expect
another Kivenkantaja....nor Verisäkeet, actually. Don´t expect anything, so you won´t
get disappointed, hehe.
Two days left....fingers crossed.

Tuesday 8.8
88! Ehehehe. Time flies, doesn´t it? Sorry for not updating this shit, but I have a
perfectly good excuse. You see, we really haven´t been here for a while. "But you
just came there", I can hear you mumbling, pointing a fat, shaking and seemingly
judging finger at poor me.
Well, things happened and after we had sung those choirs and stuff, plus seemingly
outdrunk ourselves, Ahti informed us that he´ll need *two* days of his personal time to
"put the shit together", a.k.a wiring all outboard FX processors, cleaning the
tracks from hum and noise, editing abandoned takes to the bit- continuum, etc. If you read
this diary, you propably do it because you have some interest on studio things, so I take
it as you know what I´m talking about here...roighhht? Anyway, normally Ahti takes only
one day for that, but with this project and those 150+ tracks (Yes, you read right, heh)
made him a bit "confused" to say the least, so he needed an extra day besides
the one we had already agreed on. And, dear reader, as it happened to be wednesday when he
told this, the two remaining days would be thursday and friday.... of us doing nothing.
Plus the weekend in our lovely hostel. Naturally, I saw this as a perfect way to sneak the
fuck out from this so-called town to see my family, sleeping in my own bed and being just
lazy in the sofa for the next days.
I took the train back to Kemi at sunday evening, and spent the night in my own private
luxury (cheers for the dude who seemingly never made it to the train even though he had
paid for his side of the cabin, haha!), watching the Excellent Corpse Bride movie from my
laptop. Then, at monday morning, I woke up 8:30, left the squeaking train behind me and
walked to the studio.
So, Monday went smoothly. Ahti had made everything ready so it was easy to me to start
screwing with those buttons. We did some seriously cool drum sounds (the first batch of
those "lightly" reverbed Toms made me think Phil Collins from Hell) which ended
up sounding like....well, thunder. All the time. :D The guitars screech, the keyboards
give some atmosphere and you know the rest. Bass? Nah, "it´s only the bass", as
Ahti puts it. I managed to spend 1,5 hours of mixing the intro, but now it sounds finally
as it should sound. You´ll hear it later. :)
Tuesday...wait, that´s today! Ville arrived this morning, which was nice. After spending
the previous evening in that goddawful shithole- hostel with the only company being my
laptop and Baldur´s Gate, I was more than happy to get some company. Luckily Ville told
me that he´s going to Rovaniemi to meet some people right after today´s studio, so I was
really pleased to draw my conclusion that I´ll be spending the evening alone....again.
Hurra! Well, at least I could continue composing some unfinished Finntroll- material for
the new album. True artists never rest, you see. After I had mixed the first song, I let
Ville to do his vocal-editing with Ahti. Now they´re adding some extra delays and reverb
tails every here and there and after that it´s time to put them into balance with the
rest of the mix. Which will be done tomorrow, as the clock is ticking too fast and it´s
about time to call it quits for today.
Expect some more babbling tomorrow.

Wednesday 02.08
Crust! Vodka! Javelin! Boxing! Nudity! And you know, the usual stuff what happens when
we´re farting around. So I´m sorry, dear reader - we just didn´t have any time to write
anything yesterday, as we were singing "some" tracks of choirs....for seven
hours. Argh! And after that we drank our heads off, you see. As I gather my memories, I
recall football, a Pablo Fransisco DVD (Maria!!!!), Wolfbrigade, Jukka shaving his balls,
Ville shaving Jukka´s balls (sic!!!!!!), Mitja launching a fire extinguisher at my
cigarette (yes, he has a fetish on those).......some local drunken suicide maniac who
insisted alone on kicking our asses because of the noise in our room at 5 AM, and an
annoying fly which woke me up a couple of times in the morning. Needless to say, when I
finally gathered my pieces to shower at 11:10 I
felt like shit and my hair was full of chalc from Mitja´s little rescue operation.
Now we´re back in the studio again. Janne and Jukka (Janne being our trustworthy
choir-participant since the first album and a replacement guitarist on gigs whenever
needed, and Jukka "Natural" Varmo being our
soundguy live and an important part of the choral shit as well) are watching a Nightwish
DVD, Marko is punishing Ville to sing better again, and Mitja is eating something which
looks like meat. It´s quite hot (+24) and we´re all now suffering the consequences from
yesterday´s party. And, dear reader, I´m running out of interesting things to say. Now
where´s me bottle of water?
-Henu-
Yeah last night was crazy as fuck. Mitja had hidden some potatoes under my pillow which I
found at the morning in my bed. Terrible hangover, needed some fresh air because of last
night's fire extinguisher episode, hah!
Uhh...just played and sang some Retarded Shamanish Ritual (TM) on the album. Strange noise
indeed. It seems now that the whole album is recorded to the last note. Ahti will start
mixing tomorrow while the rest of us shall have a chilling nice day in Kemi. Should have a
few drinks perhaps.... or then not, who knows. Bollocks über alles!
Some photos coming later...

Monday 31.07.2006
One thing that really strikes me down is how very good the new Black Impaler demo is. But
is our upcoming album as well? Well, judging from what we hear now, yes. At least in our
opinion. :D We arrived to Kemi airport today at 8:30, and the flight was very pleasant
indeed, which is actually quite a rare experience, at least for yours truly....or maybe
that had something to do with those nice little tranquillizers I took before the flight to
force my feet moving into that goddamn wobbly piece of flying bolts, screws and metal,
heh.
Anyway, we have progressed again. Mitja, Marko and I did some cool three- piece smaller
choirs (the rest of the Valhalla Choral Ensemble (tm) will arrive tomorrow morning to
participate on some seriously majestic choir- jamboree) and after that we let Mitja to do
his best with his Foghorn Vocal Sound (tm), a.k.a. extremely and ridiculously low backing
vokills. (Yes, we like the first Borknagar every now and then, if you haven´t noticed. ;)
Now it´s time to whip Ville once more to get some better results to replace his first
takes on the tape.....well, hard disk, to be exact. I just seem to live in the 90´s
today. Maybe it´s because of Borknagar? I don´t know. But I do know that Ville is
drinking whiskey "to clear his voice", he says, and it´s three o´ clock in the
afternoon. Good time to start, hahaha!

Frey's day 16.06.2006
Where do I start... Maybe with the fact that the promised red carpet and hot chicks was
replaced with an ugly guy (Ville) bearing a hellish hangover? Or maybe the fact that five
star Hilton I was promised turned out to be a dump you'd see in some cheesy detective film
from the 50's...
...if it was shot in 18th century Russia, that is.
Well, let's see if the guys listened to me when I told them that they should forget about
doing the full fiiiive songs they usually manage to squeeeeze out and instead focus all
their energy on just writing two good ones barely beating the 3-minute mark each. That's
all the judges for the ESC (European Song Contest) need to see if these guys could become
the next Lordi. You know they've already got the looks for it. Good thing they called me
in to rescue the vocals here... they're begging for some glamourous and beautiful, velvety
touches from yours truly.
Anyway, all the bullshit aside: I am truly honoured to be a part of this and I'm very much
looking forward to being done with my part so we can get on with the drinking. Cheers!

Thor's day 15.06.2006
Here again. All the vocals were more or less done yesterday so this day will be dedicated
to polishing. Mobile-producer Tarvonen sent me an email with some instructions and I'm
soon going to look into the parts he thought could be improved.
Some hours later, everything is done and I'm feeling great. Now it's time to go the the
railway station to meet our special guest star. His turn will be tomorrow.

Odin's day 14.06.2006
The atmosphere is thickening and my throat is getting sore. Despite the fact that I spent
yesterday evening just watching football and drinking tea (how English), went to sleep
early, slept well and woke up late, I'm really having hard times to push the words out of
my throat now. And since Henri was sick, Ahti is now sick as well and Blastmor, who visits
us in the studio every other day, is also sick, there isn't much higher math to do about
this. At least the vocals sound (and feel) very brutal done this way.
Ville

----------
Tuesday 13.06.2006
The atmosphere is thickening. I'm having a break from the vocals as Henri is polishing the
whole shite with his majestic mouth harp and accordion parts. Yesterday evening we went
for a pint of Guinness and he told me he will leave today because he's gotten quite ill
and has to go to the doctor in Helsinki. I so love changes in plans. Meaning, I will be
stuck here for three more days having to work in the studio alone (without the
overproducer!) and watching football hoping I will at least run into the unholy Blastmor
during the night. I'll be at his local pub, you see.
At the moment Henri is playing Lambada with the accordion and there is no place in the
studio you could run not to hear it.
Ville
Yep, that's the deal. I've been almost constantly ill with fever for the last 10 days and
there's just a certain limit a man can stand, especially when stuck in Kemi, heh. I'm
travelling home the next night with a train, and will rest for the remaining four days of
my vacation and visit my job-doctor to check out what the heck is going on. I feel like
shit about the fact that I'll be leaving too early, but then again, I have no doubts that
Ville couldn't perform his best without the omnipresent shadow of yours
truly. Well, things happen, people die, you know the deal. Now I'm torturing people with
the accordion as Ville mentioned, which rules. I guess it's back to business again.

"How are YOU doin'?", as Joey kindly puts it in the magnificent comedy series
"Friends". Well, album- wise, better and better. This starts to sound like a
real record, as Ville is laying his vokill parts onto the top of the cake. Screechy,
majestic and evil as fukk, you see. We also performed some nice little duettos there,
where I seemingly sound like Cartman and Ville like your local gothic
not-so-experienced-but-if-Jyrki-can-do-it-so-can-I- styled vocalist, haha! Two Witches
might come to mind, to be exact. ;) Two hours left, so I could start making the spaghetti
I've been trying to do since last thursday but haven't had time to do it. Olives, meat,
some pesto, lots of garlic and tomato sauce. My mum would be proud, even though she's not
Italian. I mean, luckily. Capisce?
Yeah, my spaghetti is ready and after dinner it's time to leave the studio for today.

Sunday 11.6.2006
So, I went sleeping/passed out 23:00 despite of all the noise from the bar downstairs,
slept for 12 hours in a row and now I feel better. Some slight fever seems to be present
still, but nothing extreme. Ville went for a walk before he goes to bar to check out
football again. I was thinking of reading a book about Björk, and later slashing some
undead with my lawful evil dwarven fighter. And I also bought coke and potato chips
yesterday - it seems to be a nerd night tonight!!!!!!!! :D
Now I could take a walk to a cafeteria to have a cup of that shit. Let´s see. Returned
from the coffee-trip, which lasted for three hours, three cups of coffee, every single
magazine I could read for free and way too many cigarettes. Noticed that Ville had got
drunk again, heh. (I'm sure that as a professional Moonsorrower, he wouldn´t let that
drinking affect on tomorrow's studiotime.) Meanwhile, today seems to be the first day in a
week without fever, if not including the morning. Hurra!!!!! I watched another Naked
Gun-movie, played some Baldur's Gate and got my ass kicked way too many times by flesh
golems in a row so I decided to hit the sack. Until tomorrow, bastards!!!!

Saturday 10.6.2006
I went to sleep about 6 a.m....after watching some Bal- Sagoth Wacken live and a
stupefying "document" of the Swedish neo-nazi movement with Mitja. Pekka Siitoin
would be proud of those guys. I wonder how the director always finds the most stupid and
embarrassing guys to the front of the camera, no matter what kind of an "objective
journalism" is he practising, ehm. Greetings to objective journalism and
subjectivism!
We also listened to Daft Punk, Moonsorrow early demos, some EBM, Pluton Svea and Shitter
Limited until we decided to crawl into our bunks. Extreme music for extreme people,
ehhhhh.
Markus left 5 a.m. to catch his plane (which he almost missed, but luckily me and Mitja
were still awake and drinking, hehe, so we could wake him up) and Mitja left about one
o'clock in the afternoon. And I woke up 15:30, hahahaha! Well, I didn´t exactly miss
anything "extraordinaire le Kemi" while I was asleep. And boy, did I feel bad or
what? First the hangover kicked in, which I repelled with pizza and sparkling water.
Luckily it wasn´t so bad after all, but alas, enter other things.
You see, dear reader, I've been having this weird fever for the last week: I work a normal
day, be it my dayjob or the studio. But then, after 18:00 or so when I´m finished, I´ll
get fever. Bad fever. Something like 38 (sometimes over) degrees, plus I feel like
fainting and my muscles feel like they were disabled with a nightstick. And yesterday was
the worst. Ville went drinking and watching football but I turned the idea down as I had
started to feel a bit feverish again. So, I played some Baldur´s Gate (hurra!!!! :D ) and
after one hour or so I started to feel like total shit. Which just kept increasing every
hour.
In the end, I was shaking in the pissy coach of this hostel, trying to watch a Naked
Gun-movie. I swear to god I had at least 39 fever, I could barely talk, walk or lift an
arm. I was just shivering of cold, all alone in that crappy sofa. At that point I really
started to miss home. :(

The band has been here for 9 studio days altogether and we almost have the whole thing
ready. Well, maybe not quite, but Henri will probably be finished with his keyboard tracks
by the end of the day. At least Markus is already finished with his. I have mostly been
playing table soccer and the Colin McRae Rally game (for PS2) that I bought in the morning
for 10 euros. (Besides playing two notes with the bass every two hours. "New
arrangements.")
I guess there aren't that many options on what to do tonight.
- Ville
The album is really taking its form now, with most of the keyboards played. It already
sounds pretty fucking great! I can't wait how it's gonna sound after the final mix. Me and
Markus are going home tomorrow morning. Back to the boring daily routines. Ville and Henri
will stay the next week here to record the main vocals, accordion and some other aqoustic
filth. Good luck boyz!
The whole band and our patented Drunken Viking Choir will come back to Kemi the late june
for the choir parts and additional vocals.

Dear Diarrhea,
Last night Henri had a surprise of his life when he entered his room! Me and Ville had
covered the whole room from the floor to the ceiling with black garbage bags! Also all the
objects like bottles and cd´s were packed individually, so there was nothing but black
plastic and brown packaging tape everywhere! Not even smallest bit of the original room
was to be seen. I was hiding in the corner of the room also wearing a bag, and i got some
great footage of Henri when he entered the room. He really couldn´t believe his eyes! I
hope we can upload some pics of the process soon. Really great stuff!! After that we
headed to a night club to have a few beers.
Today Markus and Henri started to play the keyboards. I assume there will be lots of them
as usual. What did you expect? I have to make a little correction to my previous
statements. The best pizza place in Kemi is Di Mare, not Captain (which is ok too).

Yo Homies!
This morning I slept really late. We stayed up til' 3 o'clock drinking beer and listening
some unholy Black Metal at the hotel. When i came to the studio Ville had checked all his
bass tracks and i must say that I'm really stunned about the bass lines on this album! The
bass sound is really fat and suitably distorted combination of Fender Bassman amp and the
Big Muff Pi-pedal. Right now Ville is doing souncheck for his vocals. He opened a big
bottle of vodka thinking that it'll help his voice to "open up". I guess it´s
just one more excuse to get drunk...
Henri and Markus will arrive tonight at 1am. Let´s see if they are in the mood for a
party!

Dear diary, on sunday when i arrived to Kemi with Ville, we found out that some asshole
had removed our beloved javelin-plant from the hotel corridor! Who ever it was, FUCK YOU!
What can we now use as a javelin for our drunken tournaments?
So eventually i got very pissed, and i made some serious re-decoration at the hotel! More
info and pictures on that later... Stay tuned! I played my guitar parts in yesterday and
right now Ville is finishing his bass. Maybe we can even move on to vocals tomorrow.
Blastmor from Thyrane (R.I.P) is currently visiting the studio, he has found a new band,
and we're eager to hear what kind of stuff it's going to be.
BTW, if you ever come to Kemi. i highly recommend the local pizza place called Captain.
Also the restaurant next to it has alot bigger better and cheaper pizzas than you can find
in Helsinki.

Monday 05.06.2006
Dear diary. We're here with a whole new lineup. Henu and Marko left Kemi on Saturday and
yesterday we arrived with Mitja. Didn't know what to do in this god-forsaken town so we
hit the bar. Also met with Blastmor for a chit-chat. He doesn't have a phone, but it
appeared to be a good way of getting in touch with him just to hang out in his local pub
for long enough.
We started the day with finding a guitar sound for Mitja, which was done in less than half
an hour. I slept on the couch while he played about half of the stuff, and now he's nearly
finished with all of his rhythm guitar tracks. I guess I can already start with the bass
tomorrow, way ahead of the schedule. I consider it my duty to restore the schedule now by
using as much time as possible to record the songs. Seriously, I'm starting to have
pressure about all these talented musicians around me... scary stuff.

Thursday 01.06.2006
History repeats itself. Tomorrow Ahti will again fly to mix Sonata Arctica - this time in
Italy - and we'll have to cancel the next day's studio session. Poor him! And poor us, as
we've had to be extraquick with the recordings. No time for idle chit-chat and wanking
around with the internet, you see. Speaking of wanking, the equivalent of that nice little
hobby - but done with sandpaper - must be close to something I did today. Which was eating
dry and spicy fish with rice for the third day in a row. Luckily I'll have something else
tomorrow as I finally ran out of the food. Advice for the future: canned salmon isn't
exactly the same as fresh one from a fishmarket. You always learn something, don´t you?
I´m going to buy some beer tonight to celebrate the fact that every single stringed
instrument I'm supposed to play is recorded. And that goes also for Marko's 12- string
acoustics as well. Yeah!!! And of course with the extra day off we can drink safely
without any fear of hangover in studio, which is always crap. 10 hour day behind.....Damn
this sounds good. :) Expect some serious pagan art!!!!!!!!!
-Henu-
It's the 1st of June in Kemi and no sign of summer here. It's cold and windy bastard
weather but it doesn't affect on our studio work at all. Continued playing Heros 3. Our
Overlords and Death Knights are getting better and better. We hardly got any sleep last
night because the fucking disco blasted until 4 am in the morning. After a few hours sleep
we headed again to Tico Tico. Henri played all the clean guitars which is a lot. This is
totally new to Moonsorrow sound to have so many clean guitars going on. But fear not, we
haven't gone pop at all. (NOT!!!! :D -h- )
The overall sound now (without bass guitar and Mitja's guitars) is huge as Henri's morning
crap! Someone might think the songs are made from the same elements. I'm not going to tell
you about that. Let's keep it mysterious, haha! Also today we're trying to finish all the
acoustic guitars because tomorrow is a day-off from studio because Ahti is going to mix
Sonera Africa in Italy. We will continue after the weekend.
Ville and Mitja will arrive and ruin the whole thing I suppose. It's quite obvious we're
going to get totally wasted tonight, we've deserved that. I tried to call Blastmor from
Thyrane (RIP) but he's phone number has changed. Would be nice to see him here and have a
few beers as he's probably the only person we know in Kemi. Maybe we'll see him later on.

PS: The studio diary will go silent for the next few days as there´s nothing happening

continue this blabbering at monday, then! Have a blastin' weekend, assholes, I'm out

Wednesday 31.5.2006
Hello all you heathen wackos! It's about time for me to write something down on this
studio diarrhea. First of all I want to say it's been very calm session this far and
everything is going smoothly forwards here. Yesterday I drummed the whole album's Retarded
Beats in. My brand new Kumu Custom kit played like a dream. The sound is very
organic and big. The funny thing was that my snare drum has a superwoodhoop rim and it was
impossible to place the trigger on it. I was more than glad about it! We don't need no
stinking triggers! Thanks Pekka & Kumu Drums.
The songs have a bunch of different styles and maybe most dynamic material we've written
so d far. Also today I had time to play some experimental drum/percussion parts. I'm very
happy about that. Yesterday evening went with playing Heroes 3 and listening to some ugly
(black) metal bands such as Vanaheim & Leviathan.... horrible but fun! Oh I'm sorry,
black metal shouldn't be fun...
We just found the perfect guitar sound from Koch amp and Henri started to record his
electric guitar parts. He seemed to be a little nervous, I don't know why. Whatta hell,
he's professional and when it starts to go it'll go in no time. (Which I did! Hurray for
me!!!! :D -h- ) I'll entertain myself now with WRC II Extreme rally game.
Later homies...

The drum sound is *there*. Marko will now perform his drums "on the top of the full
band", as I transferred different demo mixes of each song for him (and us all to
check out how they were played if needed, heh) to the studio. Now there´s always one
track with only bass and acoustics, one with all the synths and choirs and one with all
the electric instruments to play along with in every song, and I can just lay down and
smoke cigarettes until he´s done, haha!
While Ahti is soldering some wires together to achieve a gate- trigger out of a
piezo-mike, we´re farting around in the studio and drinking coffee. And finally, we´re
ready to record!!!!!!
Hurra! Marko has played the whole album through. It´s about time to move to dirtier
grounds, which means either starting to mold the perfect guitar sound for yours
truly......or watching sleazy porn at the hostel. We´ll see.

Monday 29.5.2006 - First studio day
I love the smell of gassy outbursts in the morning. Which was the first thing I smelled
today when I woke up at Hullu Pohjola. Or actually, when I woke up for the 693888th time,
to be exact. First the sun, which rose at 3 AM or something kept bugging me via those
non-existent curtains and then in 7:30 a fucking caterpillar (!!!!) started to drive
circles (WTF) under our window. I wasn't so pleased about that, but somehow managed to
catch the sleep again. Then, at 9:45, I found myself literally kicking the wall besides my
bed, as I woke violently up from a nightmare where I had to save a baby from a possessed
cat which then attacked me. I kicked it into it's face as hard as I could, and woke up
instantly with a nasty feeling in my foot, which had seemingly collided a couple of quite
painful times with the hostel room wall which I kicked in reality. Who said that sleeping
is healthy?
Anyway, I and Marko arrived here yesterday. Had some beers, played some Worms (...) and
Heroes of Might and Magic III, watched a document about skinheads and some Rick Wakeman
DVD and headed to the bunks. Then came the rather unpleasant morning I explained
above..... and suddenly I´m at Tico-Tico again, writing this scripture down. Marko is
just tuning his drums, while I transferred some extra-files into Ahti´s computer. We had
to carry all our gear basically by ourselves only to the fourth floor of this building,
which consisted eg. of a full drumkit, three guitar amps, guitars, percussion, you name
it. Not so pleasant, especially when yours truly had stretched his back last week and was
in total medication with an order to not to lift anything over 10 kilos. Marko wasn't
exactly bouncing from excitement from that, as he had to carry most of the heavy stuff by
himself. Poor bastard!
What else? The drum sound is *almost* there. Very majestic, yet natural!!!! And that
goddamn hifistic Marko didn´t appreciate my reference material, which was completely
Pytten per se. Hahaha! We have some minor problems with finding the perfect snare sound,
but we'll get it with some fine tuning for sure.
PS: I just read that a famous church in Porvoo has been set afire last night and burnt to
the ground. Most likely to celebrate the recordings of our new album. Burn, bitch,
burn!!!!!!! Raah!!!!!!!!!!
